I'm not so good with cross-stitching; that's why I prefer needlepoint...............

You are a funny man.
Speaking of needlpoint, remember how popular that got when Rosie Greer taked about doing that in his spare time?
BTW, my brother, is a closet knitter.....started back on the farm....watching my sister doing it, and he started in and has been ever since. Gifts are from SIL....we are sworn to secrecy - till now.

Yeah, I do remember Rosey Grier & his needlepoint ( and football career ). Hay, that rhymed.
I took it up right before I found out about his interest. Mostly taught myself after the first ( fortunately simple ) packaged kit. It was about 3" x 4" with a blue background ( sky ) and a white dove. I think I gave it to Mrs. P. down the street.

That kind of talent has always eluded me. Appreciate the work, love the patterns and designs, but sorely lacking in arts and crafts department.

I know how to knit, but never made anything bigger/more complicated than a winter scarf ( orange & white for my HS colors; I still have it ).
I'll have to try knitting a closet someday...........sounds like a time-consuming project.
I learned how to crochet, but don't remember much. I can do some embroidery.

Sister started knitting a sweater when she was in 5th grade. I bet her $5.00 she wouldn't finish it....it turned into a scarf. Mother was opposed to betting.....Mother is now in Knitting Heaven......I think I will cash in on that bit with a little interest.
I wonder how much that is......
Just checked an interest calculator.....$191.61!!!! I am a wealthy man!

Geez, I dunno ---- maybe because it's the nature of this board and always has been ?!
Maybe because conversations often naturally progress from one topic to another ?!
Maybe because digressions are not meant as personal attacks on the initial poster, nor are they premeditated & deliberate "hijacks," but just happen as one subject leads to another ?!

Sorry, I figured I've come off as defensive. I was frustrated because I really was hoping someone else wanted to discuss figure skating and it went nowhere immediately....

HA! I need to get my eyes checked. I thought you wanted to discuss curling irons, which I can do pretty well!
Curling....that's that sport where they push big honker tea kettles down the ice, isn't it? :)
I've already made an apology about hi-jacking the ice skating thread.

That's the sport.. and two folks skating in front of 'the big honkin' kettle' sweeping, (sweeping!) the ice in front of it....
I saw your apology, though your description of your flounder dinner was greatness.....
