We had our last doctor's appointment yesterday.  We learned that the the cancer originated in the bile ducts.  Because of that, any conventional treatment is rather ineffective -- other than to make the patient more sick in an attempt to squeeze out a week or two more.

I have opted to forgo treatment and more doctor's visits.  Oddly, the doc seemed relieved with that decision; we thought we would have a discussion on our hands.  He highly recommended a cruise adding the comment, "Really, what is the worse that could happen?"  Dang, that was funny!  Especially since he had been so serious earlier in the conversation.

Though we won't be taking a cruise, our focus is to fully enjoy the time we do have.

I have been following a strict diet recommended by one of the doctors over the last 2 weeks and have seen dramatic improvement in vitality and strength.  Previously over the last few months, I have been unable to eat and was constantly nauseous.  I am now eating and my appetite is increasing daily.

We are optimistic that this trend will continue and that we will have more time than the doctors have allowed, and we believe in miracles.

Thank you again for your kind words and prayers. You have no idea how much they mean. May wife read through them and cannot believe how caring everyone is here.

Our approach remains, "How can we beat this thing and enjoy ourselves along the way?"  Life is not always fair, but we can choose our focus.

Thanks again for the prayers. One of us will keep you guys posted as things progress.

I am really sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you have the right attitude, and that is saying a lot.

Hang in there partner!

Miracles do happen so lots of prayers being said for you and your wife. You've had a rough time these last few years and you've never whined or complained. You've shown so much class and dignity. I truly wish I could know you in 3D.

May God bless you Albert. Since this the path you have chosen to take, I don't know that the cruise would be a bad idea. They have good doctors on them if you fell ill. We all will continue to pray for you and your wife.

When I read your post Albert, I thought of this song from Tim McGraw.  I don't think we would consider it a gift from God to hear the words you have but it just may be.  Your are now on my long-term prayer list - I believe that all of the prayer warriors here will continue to lift you and your family and you will receive many blessings and be overwhelmed with the outpouring of love.

Albert, please pardon the +1, it seems unsuitable for this thread, but Ric mirrored my feelings exactly....I too am honored and blessed to 'know' you.....you have brightened many of my days with a kind word or your quick wit....in our world of oft glorified irreverence, your refinement and dignity do not go unnoticed....continued prayers for healing, comfort, and peace.

I could not have said it any better.  The above eloquent expressions sum up my thoughts as well.  Albert, you are an inspiration to us all.  I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Rock on, Albert! Just remember these very important things ...

We won't eat with you if your diet makes you excessively gassy ...

Hello!

Just a quick update on albertmorris.

The last several days were a little rough.  But, yesterday and today, albert is feeling much better.  Prayers are definitely working.

We are optimistic that the approach we are following will continue to bring good results.  We aren't being foolish and rushing anything.  It will be a slow grind with good and bad days.  But we're ready.

I've always known how strong Albert is, but he has so outdone himself thus far, it is frankly amazing.  As soon as he made the decision to go the nutrition-based route, he has remained steadfast.  The short-term results are very re-assuring.

We both are so touched by everyone's heartfelt sentiments.  Words are not enough to express our appreciation.  Thank you for being there for AM.
