Since it's the people who choose the government, it's inconsistent to say that the same people have no faith in those. Or are you suggesting that it's the liberals who appoint the government?

Pleez. Of course, you might be right. I'm not sure McCain has much faith in himself.
Of course, we're a republic, people don't really choose the government, they choose the people who run the government. Those elected persons who run the government and thus appoint those bureaucrats who "assist" in running the government are the ones with power to manage our lives. It's the "frog in boiling water scenario" where the people who choose aren't aware of the growth of government and its intrusion into our individual liberties until at such time of an occurrence that changes the mind-set of the average person.
